The Younger Generation was set up in 1989 to give young people the opportunity and chance to appear on stage in a professional environment.
The show is a team effort; there are no 'Individual Stars'. All our cast are 'Stars' which is why in our programme we always have the cast in alphabetical order and in the finale everyone is dressed the same.
Some of our cast members have appeared at the London Palladium.
In 1990 Younger Generation had the honour to be asked to take part in the Queen Mother's 90th Birthday parade in London. She was the president of N.O.D.A (National Operatic and Drama Association) of which YG is a member. In 2001 we were also joined her 100th Birthday parade too.
In 2008 the group received NODA's flame award for the London region for "outstanding training for young people in the fields of music and dance".
The group writes its own shows and makes all the scenery except the large cloths that are hired.
We like to have about 100 young people aged 9 - 18 years old in our shows. We try to give each cast member and equal amount of items to appear in. We know that some of our cast are not 'brilliant' but we do not aim for perfection like stage school. Our aim is to let anyone try that would like to have a go at being on stage. It doesn't matter if you are fat, thin, tall, and short or even from Mars, if you have the energy and are prepared to work with us, we will help you!
Rehearsals for our 2018 show begin on April 2018 . Our induction we recommend that all new cast and parents attend this meeting so they can fully understand the commitment to YG as the terms and conditions are fully explained at this meeting
We realise that starting a new group can be daunting and signing up for a whole year for a new group can be a big commitment so Younger Generation offers their members alternative payment schemes to help with this. For more information of what is available please contact here
Hour for hour, day for day, show for show our group hourly cost is far lower than other organisations ....BARGAIN!!
We additionally have a Safeguarding Officer (Toni Steventon)
